Happy October!

Finally, I have enough time to write a post. Ever since school started, it seems as if I have no time for myself! But, October is here and is my favorite month of the year. (hey that rhymes!lol) First, I have to say Happy Birthday to my mom. It's today, and it's been fun so far. Yesterday, at school, some of my friends and I went into her class and surprised her and her 6th hour students by singing her a rap I wrote. It was so much fun! She loved it. My birthday is Friday, and I'll be 15. I'm so excited to finally be the age of every other sophmore....:P

My dad is going up to Michigan this week to move our furniture down, so we're all really happy about that. Alexander has been busy with 6th grade, and he is in the band, playing the oboe. This makes my miss my days of middle school band so much! I'm considering getting myself a new tenor saxophone and joining the high school band.

We both are in the play Annie, with debuts 3 weeks from last night. I am going to be in a Drama Competition, where I am singing Mama I'm a Big Girl Now from Hairspray with two of my friends, and for those of you who have seen Little Shop of Horrors, I am Audrey in the song Skid Row (Downtown). I may be singing a solo, or acting in a scene from Alice and Wonderland for my third slot in the competition, but I'm still deciding.

I'm looking forward to the rest of the year, and it's coming so soon! Our first quarter of school is over next week. I can't believe we're almost half way done with our first semester!

Alexander and I are still in karate, and I've dislocated my finger 3 times now in the last 2 months. But we both are having so much fun!

Hope everyone is having a great Saturday!

Happy One Year Anniversary, Blog!

One year ago today, I started my blog as an easy way for friends and family to keep up on my family's travels. And even though we're done traveling (for now!), my blog has become a fun way to keep a journal to share with everyone.
To read past entries and see pictures, click on different months and years under 'Archive' (on the right side of the blog).
Thanks to everyone who has read the blog! :)

7-8-09

Yes, I know, this is a very random post. But today, I realized, is a day that won't be around for another 1000 years. Wow, that sounds even lamer now than it did earlier! lol But anyways, today has been a boring day.
Monday at karate, we were practically drilled to death, but I did break my first board. When the sensei called on me, I was like, omg, i can do this, and I did! On my first try! I even got to keep the wood to prove it. So yesterday I didn't get up till like 10, i was so tired!
And today, my dad and brother went fishing, my mom had a class, and I was home alone. But since I'm taking 1st semester Bio online (I missed that class in public school when we were traveling, and took a different science class w/o realizing it) so i'm almost finished with that. 1 semester done in a month! That's pretty good, I think.
But I have karate again tonight in an hour, from 6-8. So, now I have to go eat dinner and get ready for karate.

Happy 4th of July!

I hope everyone had a great 4th yesterday! Mine actually turned out pretty awesome. A week ago, I had no plans and just expected to hang out at home. But, learning to be spontaneous in my travels, I had plans by Saturday Morning. Alexander and I were in the Freedom Fest parade for karate, so we got to ride in the float, which was pretty cool :) Then I went to do some shopping with my mom, which is always fun. We spent some time at the bookstore, and I ended up getting another shelf full. As my dad says, my mom and I are dangerous around good books! lol Then we went to the beach for a little while. When we came back home, we went back to Freedom Fest to walk around, listen to some of the music there, and get some funnel cakes. A couple of sprinkles didn't stop us! Then we drove over to where we take karate, which is a couple of blocks down from where Freedom Fest was at the civic center to watch the fireworks. It was a lot of fun! I posted a video of some fireworks and the fireworks finale. But if you want to hear the fireworks, which were pretty loud, be sure to pause the playlist down at the bottom of my blog.

Here's to Freedom Fest! We left after we got our funnel cakes, because it started to sprinkle. Look at those clouds! lol But it was fun. I took the picture as we were walking back to the car.

Here's the movie of the fireworks I took! It's not the best quality, because I took it with my normal digital camera, but it's still cool to watch!

I Love The Beach!

I seriously love the beach. Especially today. The water was so calm, and it was only about 90 out, with a hint of a breeze. Perfect day for the beach. So I went, spending about 4 hours swimming around, and just laying out reading and tanning. It was so nice! I wish summer would never end. I can't believe it's already July! Well, I guess all good things have to come to an end eventually. But I don't want to think about that right now! lol :) Now, I am going to have a yummy salad and get ready for karate from 6-8. Can't wait!

I have to say, I'm loving every minute.

I have to say, I am loving summer 2009. After spending the last 2 weeks in St. Augustine, hanging out, doing some sightseeing, and meeting some new people, I've had tons of fun. Now back home, kickin' some butt at karate, and heading to the beach every day, my life is awesome. I am seriously glad i'm finished with my first year of high school, and sooo glad i get to hang out with my friends all summer long.

To kick off summer, I've remodled my blog, including changing the address. It is no longer
girl-on-the-run55.blogspot.com!!!! (If you try typing this in your web browser, it will lead you to a page saying that it does not exist) So, go to this instead:

Then it will take you to my blog:)

Time to get back to summer!

Ahhhhh....Summer.

Yes, I know, it's been a while. But I've been crazy busy with school! lol But I am so glad it's over, which is the reason for this post..

Ahh...summer.The time every student looks forward to. Parties, Beaches, Fun. Finally, I am free from school. Time to run barefoot in the sand and spend every single minute of my free time at the beach.

Although I will miss the drama of school, and seeing my friends everyday. Oh well.

I got to go back to my old school the other day, because my old principle is retiring. It was fun to see everybody again, all the teachers I got to know. It was cool.

Time to get back to vacation! lol

Happy Easter!

Happy (early) Easter!
I know I will be crazy busy tomorrow, so I wish everyone a happy Easter!

I know--I haven't blogged in like forever. So here is a condensed version of the last three months:
January: After Christmas, my parents missed Florida even more. We all were getting sick of the freezing weather in California, and so my mom started looking for teaching jobs anywhere in Florida. There was one position back in Port St. Lucie, where we were last year. The position was 7th grade reading at Lincoln Park Academy, a 6-12 school in Ft. Pierce. After a phone interview, my mom was accepted for the job. She was to start in the next week and a half, the last week of January. This meant we would have to drive back in like 4 days, but unfortunately, my dad's assignment in California didn't end until the end of mid-February. So my brother, my mom and I had to drive to Florida ahead of my dad. My mom started, and loves being back in the classroom.

February: I applied to Lincoln Park Academy for their IB program. I was told I had a very slim chance of getting in, especially at the beginning of second semester. After showing the school my grades from last year, they said I was exactly the type of student they were looking for. So on February 2nd, I started public High School. It is so much fun! Alexander started back in public school also. He is attending an awesome elementary school--Floresta Elementary. He is making friends and loving it!

March: My dad drove back from California, making it back in time for Alexander's birthday on March 4th. My dad started a 3-month travel job in Orlando, driving there and staying for 3 or 4 nights to work, and then drives back to our house here in PSL and is off in between. Being back in Florida is tons of fun, being able to go to the beach, see palm trees everywhere, watching the beautiful sunrises and sunsets, and everything Florida has to give.

side note: I am so sorry to everyone in San Antonio that I was not able to stop on our way over! We drove through during the night, and I was disappointed I wasn't able to visit, due to our hurrying to get to Florida in order for my mom to start her job. It would have been perfect if we had enough time and had gone through on a Sunday so we would have been able to go to one more church service at St. Andrew!

so... now we are just hanging out over spring break....after going to the beach today, my mom and brother burned, and I just 'toasted'... my mom keeps telling me she is jealous of me, inheriting my dad's gene of being able to tan fast and not burn! lol I only burn when we spend the day out snorkeling, which we are planning to do this week, so hopefully I will have pics in the next week or so!

Disneyland!

Yesterday, my family and I got to go to Disneyland! It was so much fun---it is a lot smaller than Disney World. I have lots of pictures! enjoy:)
The Christmas Tree on Main Street, U.S.A.
Me and Alexander with Goofy!
Minnie Mouse! I finnaly got a pair of Minnie Mouse ears! I wore them all day long.....So here we are with Mickey!
Us and Pluto!
Tigger is here! We saw him after Splash Mountain, so we were soaked!
My mom got this picture of us--Alexander and I were lucky enough to be in front! It was both terrifying and exciting dropping down 5 stories straight down! If you click on the picture, you can see our scared faces!

Here I am with a statue of Minnie--our ears match!
Looking down Main Street, U.S.A. It was so pretty decorated for Christmas!
Here Alexander and I are in front of the statue of Walt Disney!
Sleeping Beauty's Castle! We actually got to to up into the Castle and see Sleeping Beauty sleeping.
Here we are on Dumbo! I rode with my dad--it's been his favorite ride since his first time at Disneyland, when he was 5!
We had a lot of fun!
Here we are with Pooh!
The Castle at night--it was all lit up with snow! It was so pretty.
Here is Buzz Lightyear from his Astro Blaster's ride! That is my mom's favorite ride--they have it at Disney World too! I had the lowest scores of my whole family.
Here is a view of the Matterhorn Bobsleds ride at dark. I loved that roller coaster! It was so fast!
Here we are at the spinning teacups! Alexander and I spun as fast as we could!
It seemed we were in line forever!
